M42, also known as "The Great Orion Nebula" is one of the one of the brightest and most awe inspiring nebulae in the night sky. It is located within our Milky Way Galaxy in the constellation Orion below the belt and is referred to as the middle of Orion's sword. At 1344 light years from us, it is the closest star forming region to Earth. The Orion Nebula is estimated to be 24 light years across. Click on the image to view it.

M16, also known as the Eagle Nebula and Pillars of Creation, is located in our Milky Way Galaxy in the constellation Serpens. It is situated roughly 6500 light years from Earth. M31, also known as the Andromeda Galaxy, is what is known as a Barred Spiral Galaxy and is our closest neighboring major galaxy. The Andromeda Galaxy is estiamted to be around 152,000 light years in diameter and resides roughly 2.5 million light years from Earth. NGC 6960, also known as the Western Veil Nebula, is a remnant left over from when a star with a mass 20 times greater than our Sun went supernova roughly 10,000-20,000 years ago. This beautiful display of the universe's power is comprised of ionized gas (Oxygen, Sulfur and Hydrogen) and dust and is located in the Cygnus Loop roughly 2400 light years from Earth.
